Hayley Merkeley, MD, FRCPC

Profile Information

Dr. Merkeley received her medical degree from UBC in 2011, and pursued specialist training in Internal Medicine and Hematology at UBC. She also completed a fellowship in Red Blood Cell Disorders at the University of Toronto. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, a member of the Division of Hematology at St. Paul’s Hospital and holds the position of Clinical Assistant Professor at UBC. She is also a candidate for Master of Science in Public Health from the University of London’s School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London, UK.

Dr. Merkeley works with Dr. Ezzat in the Provincial Adult Hemoglobinopathy Program of British Columbia to provide care for patients with Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassemia. She maintains a general hematology practice, but has clinical and research interests in Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassemia. Dr. Merkeley is also interested in Health Promotion and Global Health and has participated in UBC affiliated projects based in Honduras and Uganda.

Keeping ahead of COVID-19
